Finally we are back! The summer has been far too long without football but this weekend it finally returns.
There are some very interesting games to get this season underway. The highlight is in the opener where Manchester United host Tottenham (12.45pm ko). With Wayne Rooney expected to start upfront alone he is my value bet of the match at 4/1. Rooney will have plenty of creative strength behind him in Memphis Depay and Juan Mata and with his positional ability he is bound to have chances.
Sticking with the 1st scorer markets I am turning my attentions to Everton v Watford where I think Romelu Lukaku is a big price at 4/1. Again being the focal point of the home sides’ attack, I expect him and the blues to give Watford a rude awakening to the Premier League
My final 1st scorer bet is in Sunday’s game between Arsenal and West Ham and I’m sticking to my pick for the Community Shield. Theo Walcott is a bit shorter in the market than I would have liked but is another 4/1 shot that I expect to come up trumps. He has been the inform player for Arsenal and I will be very surprised if West Ham can keep him quiet.
Weekend Accumulator
Everton v Watford (7/10) – Watford are a decent side but Everton’s experience and power should be far too much for the Premier League newcomers to handle
Chelsea v Swansea (4/11) – Price says it all, reigning Champions should take all the beating at home to the Welsh side
Arsenal v West Ham (3/10) – My picks for the season look like one to keep on the right side of and despite the introduction of Slaven Bilic I think this game will not be the start the West Ham manager would have relished. If Arsenal score early it could be a goal fest.
Stoke v Liverpool (5/4) – A trappy affair after Liverpool’s heavy defeat last time out to Stoke however with the new power at the disposal of the away side and the fact that there are a couple of unknown quantity’s that could thrive in their dressing room I have to stick with Brendan Rodgers’ team
West Brom v Manchester City (4/6) – Raheem Sterling’s debut isn’t the easiest of ties but assuming Chelsea and Arsenal win their openers Man City will not want to drop any points on their rivals even at this early stage. If Aguero is fit I can’t see any other result.
