Steven Gerrard Swift Return to the Kop under Klopp

The living legend that is Steven Gerrard could be about to make a surprise return to the Kop, the former captain fantastic is on the verge of an Anfield comeback according to the Latest odds from Ladbrokes.

Following an invitation from the new Kop boss Jurgen Klopp to join his old teammates for training, after his season ended early due to L.A Galaxy being eliminated from the MLS Playoffs.

ladbrokes 250In an interview today Klopp stated “I had contact with Stevie. We had one phone call and a few messages and of course I think I said the doors are always open.

“Stevie is a legend at this club and if he’s here in Liverpool and he’s young and healthy enough to want to train, that is absolutely no problem.”

Ladbrokes are now offering odds of 5/2 that Gerrard turns out for his former side in the league this season, should he manage to find the back of the net during a potential return stint then you can cash in with odds of 5/1.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We’re not ruling out a sensational return to Anfield this season for Gerrard. Even if he just trains with the side, his odds of stepping up to manager will shorten too.”

If your prepared to take things a step further with Gerrard returning, you can also get long odds of 33/1 for Stevie G to make his way into the Euro 2016 squad during his comeback, but it’s a far more likely scenario that once he officially hangs up his boots, Gerrard takes the place of Jurgen Klopp as and when the German leaves Liverpool at 10/1.

The reason Gerrard becoming the next Liverpool boss seems more likely is in a recent interview, Gerrard himself stated he is considering the possibility of calling time on his playing career at the end of the next MLS Season.

During his first season in the MLS Gerrard admits he may have under estimated the challenge before him: “Going on the road, playing on AstroTurf, playing at altitude, playing in humidity, those are the hurdles that I’ve had to face over the last three months that I wasn’t aware of.

“Every away game has a different challenge.

“At home, we’ve got no problems because we’re very strong and we play well. We’ll always win more than we lose.”
