    Premier League Weekend Previews

    Chelsea v Manchester United

premier league preview and tipsThe highlight of the weekend has to be the Super Sunday 4pm kick off at Stamford Bridge, where Jose Mourinho returns to the club at which he established his managerial prowess.

Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea are now in the hands of Italian Antonio Conte, he recently seems to be putting his stamp on the teams’ style of play. This was evident with them winning readily at Hull, as well as last week’s thrashing champions Leicester. Manchester United are on a six game unbeaten run in all competitions, but they are picking up their critics along the way.

We were at Anfield on Monday evening to watch their 0-0 draw against Liverpool.  It was not a vintage display from the away side, nor one that we are used to from a United side.  However Mourinho’s team worked their socks off, were much organised and did their job well.  My issue with their tactics is the fact they have some of the most attack minded, dangerous players in the league, but they were unable to be utilised to their full potential.  So much so we can’t remember a shot on Karius’ goal, who for us was there for the taking.

It wouldn’t surprise us if similar styles are adopted here, with Chelsea also having built a solid base the game may not be one for the neutrals.  It is likely to be a very tactical affair and in our opinion it has a draw written all over it.  Therefore we will be adding it to our draw acca. But if you fancy either side to sneak a win, then a draw no bet acca may be the best route for you.

    Manchester City v Southampton

The next game we’re focussing on is the early kick off on Sunday, where Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City host Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.  Southampton were unbeaten in seven games prior to their defeat on Thursday night, whereas leaders Manchester City are now without a win in four.

The home side were beaten 4-0 by Barcelona on Wednesday, however the margin of that defeat was on the harsh side as City were actually very good in the main.  This is an ideal opportunity for them to get back to winning ways, although they are a short price they are worth adding to our acca.

    Arsenal v Middlesbrough

The banker of the weekend for us is at the Emirates where Arsenal host Middlesbrough.

Arsene Wenger’s side come in to this game on the back of a seven game unbeaten run, having scored a whopping 23 goals in the process (more than three per game).  Middlesbrough on the other hand have not won in seven matches and are struggling to keep pace with the Premier League elite.

Arsenal to win to nil is an attractive bet at even money.
