North London Derby to Decide Title Race?

As the Premier League run in starts to gather momentum there’s still no clear favourite in site, which is a rare occurrence, but after Sunday things may start to gain a little clarity as two title chasers face off.

    Tottenham v Arsenal

The pick of the weekends’ action has to be the White Hart Lane encounter where Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham take on Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

Both sides missed out on a chance to close the gap on Leicester City at the top of the table in midweek, as Spurs were beaten by London rivals West Ham, whilst Arsenal suffered a surprise defeat to Swansea at home.

I feel Pochettino will be regretting having Dele Alli on his substitutes bench rather than starting him and giving him an hour before taking him off. Arsenal will be hoping their talisman Olivier Giroud breaks his record of seven games without a goal, whilst Alexis Sanchez hasn’t scored since October.

Strangely I reckon this game is the ideal game for both sides. Arsenal especially look like they need a morale boosting victory to get their season back on track, they won’t be as fired up for any other game than this one. It is however a very tough one to call and with the game being the lunch time kick off I’m going to go with a draw and sit on the fence. making it perfect for a draw no bet.

    Manchester City v Aston Villa

I’ll have to be honest I don’t think I’ve seen a bigger BANKER than Man City to beat Aston Villa. Granted the price isn’t great however to add a bit more on to an acca, they should be part of every single bet you do.

City lost to Liverpool in midweek but did win the Capital One Cup last Sunday which would have been a confidence boost. There were only a few days between the games and teams predominantly don’t do too well off the back of Cup Final victories.

The pressure is starting to build on City with teams below them closing the gap recently, however this weekend should be the return to winning ways, Aston Villa on the other hand simply have not shown any desire to get themselves out of the situation they are in and if they’re not careful they could be on the wrong end of another large defeat.

Sergio Aguero is due a goal or two and although I don’t like tipping first goal scorers so short, I can’t see him not scoring so at 5/2 even that price could be a bargain.

    Watford v Leicester

Two teams who have surprised many this season take each other on this weekend, Leicester especially have been the real revelation and currently lead the Premier League by 3 points. Claudio Ranieri’s team have played football with the passion of a team that clearly enjoy what they do and they will be tough to beat.

Watford are also a tough nut to crack these days and have built a solid back line, whilst possessing one of the best strike partnerships in the league.

I felt Watford were very unlucky not to have got something from their game in midweek against Man Utd, whilst Leicester also somehow didn’t win the game against West Brom despite their late efforts.

Given the counter attacking nature of both teams and the solid defences that are in the game I feel under 2.5 goals may be worth taking at 5/6.
