Dave’s Top Tip: FLINTSHIRE 10/1 – 1pt each way

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes Preview

Kentucky Derby Betting OddsThe King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes in essence revolves around the unbeaten Golden Horn who has looked invincible this season with high profile wins in the Dante, Epsom Derby and more recently the Coral Eclipse. If he runs this race he will take all the beating.

Golden Horn will not have everything his own way however, should something go wrong for the favourite there is a lot of value to be had with some of the competitors.

Snow Sky has returned this year better than ever beating the highly regarded Black Panther, before trouncing a useful field in the Hardwicke Stakes over course and distance. His form is top drawer and he will provide a stern test for the favourite and connections clearly think he is capable of challenging having supplemented him for £75,000.

Eagle Top was 4th in this race last year and with his defeat against Snow Sky recently I can’t see him reversing the form so I am overlooking him.

Telescope was runner up last year and he was very keen when well beaten in the same race as Snow Sky and Eagle Top, but if back to his best he could run in to a place but I can’t see him matching the favourite as things stand.

Flintshire is the most interesting runner for me. The Andre Fabre horse has ran twice at Ascot and come up short both times however his 2nd place finish to Treve recently reversed the form with Dolniya whom is a top class horse in her own right.

Flintshire has a bit to find to trouble Golden Horn however I would place him well above The Grey Gatsby whom Horn beat by 3 ½ lengths in the Eclipse so for me he looks the pick of those to challenge the favourite for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and is my selection.
