So who has been inserted as the clear favourite to be the next West Ham United Manager by Ladbrokes? Despite leading West Ham to a comfortable mid table finish and taking some serious scalps along the way, it looks like Sam Allardyce is set to leave The Hammers at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The club are still yet to offer the former Bolton and Newcastle manager an extension and as each day passes that looks even less likely to happen, to be honest if I were Big Sam I’d be inclined to reject it if it was.
Next West Ham United Manager
SLAVEN BILIC looks increasingly likely to be the man to replace Sam Allardyce as West Ham manager, according to the latest Ladbrokes odds.
The former Irons favourite has long been linked with a return to the Premier League and Upton Park in particular, after seeing the 46-year-old sacked by Turkish outfit Besiktas the High St and online bookmaker has slashed his odds of him replacing Allardyce to just 9/4, from 6/1.
James Curtis of Ladbrokes said: “It was always a case of when and not if Allardyce would be replaced and with Bilic vacating the Besiktas role the odds suggest a return to Upton Park is imminent.”
Bilic was a firm favourite with the West Ham faithful, fulfilling all the characteristics and attitude they expect from all of their players, something they may feel has been missing under Sam’s tutelage.
Despite being shown the door at Besiktas, Bilic is highly regarded as a coach and would be on the shortlist of most European teams if the opportunity arose, this is in no small part thanks to the sterling job he did with Croatia’s national team.
Bilic led the national team to the 2008 European Championship finals in Austria and Switzerland, knocking England out of the qualifiers in the process, making their way to the quarter finals with some dogged yet impressively skillful performances.
Which I expect is what the Hammers will be looking for from the next West Ham United manager.
