Yesterday we saw a fan cash out his bet for £29k, but that has been dwarfed this morning with news of the biggest pay out to date.
One lucky Leicester City fan had his eyes opened for him when yesterday’s story of the £29,000 cash out hit the news-stands this morning, so decided he wanted a piece of the action, collecting a cool £72k from Ladbrokes on his team winning the Premier League before a ball was even kicked against Watford tonight.
The daring and avid Foxes fan who is in his thirties has chosen to remain anonymous, he originally placed a £50 bet at the start of the season for his beloved team lifting the trophy at 5000/1, but after reading about John Pryke he thought now was as good a time as any to cash out.
Speaking from his home in Warwickshire, he commented: “I’m ecstatic, I read the papers on Saturday morning and thought it’s time to cash out. Win or lose the league, I’m looking forward to the rest of the season ahead. It will mean so much if we win so there’s no point in being greedy.
“The odds are constantly changing, even Chelsea could sneak into the top 4 at the last minute. I’ll be celebrating tonight hopefully after beating Watford. A holiday to Spain is a certainty followed by paying off the mortgage with the winnings,” he added.
The full figure of his winning ticket is a whopping £72,335.89, which places him at the top of the list of Leicester’s cash out kings, but had he held his nerve he could have stood to win a jaw dropping £250,000 from his 5000/1 wager.
Despite it being a huge amount for Ladbrokes to pay out, they genuinely seemed pleased for the lucky punter and happy to hand over the winnings from his fairy tale bet.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “It’s a life-changing amount of money and we congratulate our customer for holding his nerve this long. He’s now the richest cash out punter in the entire country and we wish him all the best.”
We have it on good authority that there are still some big hitters left in the race, so this massive cash out could still be beaten.
